Protein plays an important role in every cell of the body. Lean sources of animal and plant protein provide many health benefits. Eating five to 6.5 ounces of lean protein per day is recommended as part of a healthy diet. MSU Extension nutrition experts encourage going lean with protein and provides education on protein topics including: nutrition, food safety, recipes, tips and Michigan protein production.
