4-H & Youth
Youth development programs offered through MSU Extension are lead by its flagship Michigan 4-H program. Expertise in areas such as agriculture, gardening, craftsmanship and food could be lost without some method of passing it down to today’s young people. At the same time, youth are the explorers of new ideas and technology, creating everything from biofuels to robots to social media platforms. In times of economic stress, these youth are also exploring new ideas in careers—or writing business plans for their own entrepreneurial ideas. MSU Extension provides the conduit for expertise and ideas to flow both ways, connecting nearly all of its programming to youth development at some point.
