Youth Development: Early Adolescents (Ages 9 to 15)

This document discusses young people’s physical, cognitive (thinking), social and emotional development during early adolescence, the stage of life between childhood and adolescence. This stage is usually thought of as the ages of 10 to 14 or 9 to 15. It’s an exciting, sometimes scary time in the life of a child-growing-into-an-adolescent because of the major changes that take place during these years. The information can be useful for teen and adult 4-H volunteers and staff who work with 4-H’ers in this age group.
