Schedule A Training Session

This fast-paced one-day workshop provides educators with the knowledge and skills to teach the “Together We Can” family formation and strengthening curriculum. Through interactive activities, case study analysis, small group discussion, and mini-lectures, participants will learn about the “Together We Can” curriculum and how it was developed.

Workshop objectives

  • Understand the background research used to formulate the “Together We Can” program including:
  • The target audience for the curriculum
  • The strengths and challenges faced by unmarried parents when enhancing their relationship and family well-being.
  • The empirical evidence and program models that support effective education interventions for unmarried, low-income parents.
  • Explore the content and activities in the six modules of the Together We Can program
  • Practice using the Together We Can curriculum to put together a program for a member of the target audience.

Sample workshop outline:

  • Setting the stage through introductions and presentation of the goals for the day
  • Opening activity regarding identification of the target audience and strengths/challenges related to family formation and strengthening.
  • Background information related to the Together We Can curriculum including the fragile families research and empirical evidence related to teaching adults and helping them make changes
  • Receive an overview of the format and content included in the Together We Can Curriculum
  • Explore the curriculum first-hand as we walk through the various lessons and experience sample activities
  • Put the curriculum to use by setting up a program outline for a sample member of the target audience.
