One of the most difficult aspects of starting a farm is establishing relationships with potential markets for your produce. While many beginning farmers concentrate only on farmers markets and CSA’s as outlets for their products, there are many other options to consider that could help the beginning farmer diversity their market channels. Kendra and Garrett will present on the most effective ways to begin selling to local hospitals and schools. Topics will include food safety requirements for institutional markets, wholesale pricing, strategies for communicating with food service directors, selling direct or through a distributor or food hub, and available resources to get you started.
