MSU Extension Volunteer Selection Process
Volunteers are a critical part of Michigan 4-H and other MSU Extension programs. Complete the Volunteer Selection Process and become a volunteer today!
Next, complete your national background check. The secure link provided here will allow you to complete your background check at no charge to you.
Once we have received your application, completed background checks and reference responses, your local 4-H program coordinator will contact you to set up an interview about your potential involvement as a 4-H volunteer. During this interview, the 4-H program coordinator will discuss your interests and talents, as well as your fit with the 4-H program.
The fourth step in the Volunteer Selection Process is the completion of four learning modules, These e-modules will introduce you to 4-H and basic youth development principles. You may access the e-modules online using the password VOLUNTEER (not case sensitive). Each module will take approximately 20 minutes to view and complete; all four modules must be completed prior to being approved as a volunteer. As you complete each module, remember to print out the completion certificate (or take a screenshot of it) so you can take them with you to your interview as proof of module completion. You should also be sure to hit “Submit” after you complete each module to ensure your progress is noted in the system.
After your completion of the Volunteer Selection Process, your 4-H program coordinator will follow up with you regarding your application status. Thank you for your interest in being a MSU Extension 4-H Youth Development Program volunteer.
*Note: Completion of the Volunteer Selection Process does not guarantee acceptance as a volunteer.
