Family Folklore: A 4-H Folkpatterns Project

Family folklore is the way a family captures its experiences and keeps its past alive. This project guide explores five forms of family folklore: stories, expressions, photographs, customs and keepsakes. The goals of the project include developing knowledge about what family folklore is and why it is important; understanding preservation of the past; appreciation for the uniqueness of families and family heritage; and creating a sense of the human life cycle and how family members experience it. The packet includes a variety of activities. (48 pages, 1985)

Since the launch in the 1980s of Folkpatterns its resource materials have been used with many individuals and organizations across the United States and the content retains its currency except for references to some now out-dated terms and technologies.
