Breakfast on the Farm

Breakfast on the Farm (BOTF) gives consumers and farm neighbors a first-hand look at modern food production, and the farm families who work hard to produce a safe, wholesome food supply for Michigan communities and the world.

Since the inaugural Michigan “Breakfast on the Farm” event was held at Dutch Meadows Dairy, a family-owned dairy farm owned by the Tony and Patti Jandernoa family near the mid-Michigan town of St. Johns, on June 20, 2009, interest in replicating this event has led to the formation of three events in 2010, eight for 2011 and eight for 2012.

Since 2009, nearly 23,000 children and adults have attended Breakfast on the Farm events throughout Michigan to learn about where food comes from. At each event, attendees had a chance to learn how cows are milked, pet a calf, take wagon rides, see tractors and eat ice cream. Questions about farming and food production are encouraged.
