We are number one in organic research and education!

Michigan State University Extension remains a leader for organic farming research and education.

A report from Organic Farming Research Foundation (OFRF) arrived via email today, May 2. The report evaluated all land grant universities for their support to organic research and education. The report rated land grants on several categories such as certified organic research acres, student organic farms, organic academic programs offered, and organic extension resources.

I am extremely happy to report Michigan State University (MSU) scored a perfect “8.” We were one of only six land grants scoring an 8. The other universities were Colorado State University, University of Florida, University of Minnesota, University of Tennessee and Washington State University.

Organic production has quadrupled over the past decade. MSU Extension continues to lead in this increasingly popular farming system.
