Update on aster leafhopper infectivity in Michigan for July 24-27, 2012
Aster leafhopper infectivity is still high in parts of Michigan, but leafhoppers are causing less of a problem in commercial vegetable fields than earlier in the season due to their lower abundance.
Please see the map below for aster yellows infectivity of aster leafhoppers. Two aster leafhopper samples were tested during July 24-27, 2012.
Thresholds per 100
sweeps:
30 percent infectivity: celery - 1, carrot - 1
5 to 6 percent infectivity: celery - 7/8, carrot - 9/10
Numbers on map represent percent of leafhoppers infected
with
aster yellows. Each number represents a separate sample
collected between July
24-27, 2012.
