The deadline for 2015 health insurance coverage is fast approaching
Do you need health insurance coverage? Open enrollment for Marketplace health insurance coverage is coming to an end on February 15, 2015. It is easy to sign up, so learn what you need to do.
The open enrollment period for the Health Care Marketplace is fast approaching its deadline of February 15, 2015. During the open enrollment period, anyone in need of a health insurance plan can review their options and sign up for a plan or face penalties from the federal government. If you have health insurance through the Marketplace, it is important to take the time to review the plan you have and decide if you need to make any changes.
If you do not have a plan, go to the Marketplace and view your plan options. There are many tools on the website to help you view the options available in your area. You can do a step-by-step comparison of each plan’s coverage and cost. If you already have a plan, make sure it is providing you with the type of coverages you want and need.
Review your current plan by logging into your account on the Marketplace. You will be asked a few questions to get to the 2015 application. This is important to do even if none of your information has changed since last year. By doing this you will see if you are eligible for lower costs than last year. This is your opportunity to update any information that may have changed.
You can then compare other plans against the plan you have. New and more affordable plans may be available in your area this coming year. You can pick a new plan or stay with the one you have now. You can stay with your current plan as long as it is offered and by indicating your selection on the website and entering the 14-digit ID for the plan. Once you have finished your application for a plan, contact your plan to confirm your enrollment. Then pay your premium on time so the plan does not get cancelled for lack of payment. Also read the notice from your health plan to check when your coverage will start. If you enroll before the 15th of the month, coverage will start on the first day of the next month.
