Support Hurricane Harvey relief through 4-H

Build 4-H connections by helping Texas 4-H.

Support Hurricane Harvey relief through 4-H

When devastating natural disasters hit, people are often looking for a way to help. With strong values of leadership, community service and volunteering, 4-H has a long history of helping others after disasters or personal struggles. Most recently, Michigan 4-H members across the state banded together to provide money and supplies for farmers who lost grazing land due to wildfires in Kansas and Oklahoma.

In the current wake of tropical storm/Hurricane Harvey, there are many areas of devastation in Texas and Louisiana, and the rescue and cleanup efforts will continue for some time. With so many needs, the best way for people outside of the affected areas to help those in the affected areas is to donate to reputable organizations who are already present and working in those areas.

One of the benefits of belonging to a group like 4-H is a sense of camaraderie and connection with other 4-H members around the world. The Texas 4-H Foundation is spearheading a campaign to help 4-H clubs and programs within the state of Texas as they help their communities. This is a great way for 4-H members and supporters in other states to support efforts in Texas!

4-H members often feel a strong sense of empathy and concern for others. This can be a great opportunity to practice leadership skills, as well. Organize a fundraiser, coordinate giving from your local club, or talk to your local business leaders about supporting relief efforts. When we support each other, we are all stronger in the end!
