Soil Academy to offer nutrient management education and pesticide applicator credits
Get more out of your use of fertilizer. MSU Extension’s Soil Academy 2013 will focus on 4R nutrient management and offer 6 pesticide applicator recertification credits.
Michigan State University Extension will be hosting the Soil Academy phase ll educational program Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Mason Technology Center, 474 S. Onondaga Road, Mason, MI 48854 (). The focus will be on nutrient management with 4R stewardship practices. The 4R Stewardship concept defines the 4 “rights” of fertilizer practices: the right source, right rate, right time and right placement.
This event will feature speakers from the International Plant Nutrition Institute, Michigan State University Extension, Crop Production Services, Agro Culture Liquid Fertilizers, Dekalb/Asgrow and MAEAP. The class size is limited and early registration is encouraged. A nutrient management research plot tour is also included.
Participants will receive 6 MDARD pesticide credits (Commercial Core, Private Core, and 1A), 6 CCA credits (4 nutrient management and 2 crop management), 1 MAEAP phase l credit and a certificate of completion.
