Porcine Reproductive & Respiratory Syndrome (PRRS) Area Regional Control Project Meeting scheduled

Hear the latest information on the West Michigan PRRS ARC and learn about the progress being made in the Allegan and Ottawa county areas in disease stabilization and control.

The West Michigan PRRS Area Regional Control Working Group, Boehringer Ingelheim (BIVI) and Michigan State Extension are collaborating to bring an educational opportunity to Michigan pork producers. Project leaders and representatives from BIVI will be discussing the progress of PRRS stabilization and area regional control on Wednesday December 7, 2011 at the Rock Island Restaurant, located at 1816 M-40 in Holland, Michigan. A dinner sponsored by BIVI will start at 6:00 pm and educational meeting will begin at 7:00 pm.

Project representatives will explain the results of the August PADRAPS and discuss biosecurity options and plans as we move into the winter months. Project leaders will also review the progress made in the area and update producers on the program milestones and goals. Participants will learn how to become more active in the West Michigan PRRS project and how to access funding for herd health testing and surveillance for their operation.

The focus of this meeting is to help producers gain an understanding of the next steps for PRRS eradication in West Michigan and share information beneficial for controlling and eliminating the virus in your herd.
