Peach grower meeting May 28

Growers are invited to attend a meeting May 28 in Fenton, Michigan, to discuss handling winter-damaged peaches.

Peach growers have been looking at sick peach trees all spring and asking me what to do with them. I have set up a quick grower meeting Wednesday, May 28, from 10:30 a.m. to noon at Spicer Orchards to discuss all of the cultural or growing questions that you have concerning these severally winter-damaged trees. We will cover pruning, fertilization and other related questions. Our presenter, Bill Shane from Michigan State University Extension, is a peach breeder in Southwest Michigan and is a nationally known expert on peach culture. He will have a great deal to share.

I know that this is an extremely busy time of year for you, but consider pulling away from the farm for a short time Wednesday morning to learn how to handle your peach trees through this tough time.

Please help spread the word about this meeting to your peach growers in your area. Give them a call and ride over together.

Spicer Orchards is located at 10411 Clyde Rd., Fenton, MI 48430 and is easy to find. Their orchard is close to the US-23 and M-59 interchange. Clyde Road is the next exit north of M-59 off of US-23.
