MSU Extension to offer Affordable Care Act and Fruit Crop Insurance update workshops
Find out how The Affordable Care Act begins to affect farms, small business owners and the self-employed.
Michigan State University Extension will offer workshops that provide a glimpse into what requirements the Affordable Care Act may have for farms, small business and the self-employed. Although a major portion of the ACA’s employer requirements will not take effect until Jan. 1, 2015, employers should not wait until just before the deadline to learn about the Act. Many employers may make managerial and administrative changes to provide for a more smooth transition towards compliance with the ACA.
These evening workshops will be combined with the Fruit Crop Insurance program for all locations. Tart Cherry Insurance will be discussed at the Benton Harbor, Traverse City and the Oceana/Mason County locations while Blueberry Crop Insurance will be discussed at the Ottawa County, West Olive location. The workshops cost $10 and begin at 6 p.m. with the topic of the Affordable Care Act. The Fruit Crop Insurance portion of the meeting will follow around 7:45 p.m. Those in attendance not interested in the Fruit Crop Insurance may leave following the ACA portion of the workshop. Speakers will include Michigan State University Extension faculty and staff and local industry experts.
Space is limited, so please register early. Registration for these workshops is available online. To register for the Oceana/Mason workshop, please call 231-873-2129 or 231-898-4789.
