MSU Extension to host Integrated Crop and Pest Management Update for agribusiness on December 16
The Integrated Crop and Pest Management Update for Michigan agribusiness will feature MSU field crop recommendations for 2012.
Eaton County Michigan State University Extension (MSUE) along with the MSUE Field Crops Team will host the 2011 Integrated Crop and Pest Management Update from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., December 16, at the Michigan State University (MSU) Pavilion for Agriculture and Livestock Education. This educational program is intended for agribusiness, pesticide sales and service professionals, crop consultants, field crop educators and farmers. Participants will be provided with 2012 recommendations for potential pest problems, fertilizer practices, MSU Weed Control Guide, and other insect and disease information.
The objective of this meeting is to provide the agribusiness industry with recommendations from experts at MSU for 2012 so that they can make their year-end business decisions and get ready with what they have to sell to farmers. This timely information will help dealerships with pesticide, fertilizer purchasing and sales decisions. The crop industry is reacting to high commodity prices, rising input costs, rapidly evolving technologies and potential pest problems.
The day includes a review of the 2011 season which was characterized by abnormal weather and late planting and a discussion of the 2012 recommendations. MSUE specialists will be on hand to answer participant’s questions. The event will also feature prominent speakers from other institutions.
Participants will receive MDA and CCA pesticide re-certification credits and MAEAP credits at this session. A registration brochure may be downloaded. Registrations can be mailed to Eaton County MSU Extension, 551 Courthouse Drive, Suite 1, Charlotte, Mich., or faxed to 517-543-8119.
