Integrated Crop and Pest Management Update for Agribusiness set for December 13
The Integrated Crop and Pest Management Update for Agribusiness will feature field crop experts, MSU pest management recommendations and pesticide certification credits.
The Michigan State University Extension field crops group along with Eaton County MSU Extension will host the 2013 Integrated Crop and Pest Management Update on Dec. 13, 2013, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the MSU Pavilion for Agriculture and Livestock Education (4301 Farm Lane, East Lansing, MI 48824). This is the 15th consecutive year for this event. Participants will receive MSU Extension’s 2014 recommendations for potential pest problems, fertilizer practices and weed control. This program is intended for agribusiness, retail sales and service professionals, private crop consultants, field crop educators and farmers.
One of the major objectives is to provide the agribusiness industry with MSU recommendations in a timely fashion so that they can make their year-end purchasing and sales decisions and get ready for the 2014 season. The industry is facing issues associated with delayed planting, volatile commodity prices, rising input costs, rapidly evolving technologies and potential new pests. The agenda includes a review of the 2013 growing season, insect and weed resistance management, soil fertility update and the 2014 Weed Control Guide.
Participants will receive five MDARD credits (Com. Core, Priv. Core, 1A), seven CCA credits (2NM, 3.5PM, 1.5CM) and MAEAP phase 1 credits for this session.
