2017 Integrated Crop and Pest Management Update set for Dec. 20
The Integrated Crop and Pest Management Update for Agribusiness will highlight 2018 MSU pesticide recommendations and potential threats.
Michigan State University Extension and Eaton County MSU Extension will host the 2017 Integrated Crop and Pest Management Update Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2017, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the MSU Pavilion for Agriculture and Livestock Education (4301 Farm Lane, East Lansing, MI 48824). Participants will receive MSU Extension’s 2018 recommendations for potential weed, insect and disease problems and fertilizer practices.
This program is intended for agribusiness, farmers, retail sales and service professionals, private crop consultants, Michigan Agriculture Environmental Assurance Program (MAEAP) professionals and field crop educators. This event will provide MSU pesticide recommendations in a timely fashion so agribusinesses can make their bulk purchasing and sales decisions before the year’s end.
The Michigan field crops industry encountered another challenging year associated with floods, rising input costs, changing commodity prices, rapidly evolving technologies and potential new pests. The agenda will include a review of the 2017 growing season, insect and weed resistance management, soil health and fertility, and the “2018 Weed Control Guide for Field Crops” (MSU Extension bulletin E0434).
Participants will receive MDARD credits and CCA credits and MAEAP phase 1 credits for this event.
