Urban garden and farm tours showcase the best of Detroit and Flint.
Enjoy the best our cities have to offer this summer by going on the Detroit Urban Garden and Farm tour or the Edible Flint Food Garden tour. These tours showcase how our urban gardens and farms play important and growing roles in building strong and vital food systems in our cities with access to fresh, healthy food for all. Participants will see firsthand how these urban gardens and farms can positively impact our urban communities by taking a vacant lot and transforming it into a green oasis where neighbors can share beauty and good food.
Keep Growing Detroit is offering their tour of Detroit urban gardens and farms on August 7, 2013. Four bus tours and three bike tours will be leaving from Eastern Market Shed 3 located on Russell Street between Adelaide and Division Streets in Detroit at 6:00 PM with check in starting at 5:00 PM. Locally-grown food and refreshments prepared by local chefs will be provided for tour participants at the end of the tour. The fee for the tour, payable in advance or at the door, is a sliding scale of $5-$75. Early registration is strongly recommended as this tour fills up fast. To register, call 313-757-2635 or go to http://detroitagriculture.net/.
