Family Fun Day at the Michigan State University horse farm

The Michigan State University horse farm is hosting Horsin’ Around at MSU - join us for a day of educational fun!

The first family fun day was held in April 2014 and was a huge success with over 275 visitors.

The Michigan State University horse farm is hosting the Horsin’ Around at MSU family fun day on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2014 from 1-4 p.m. at the Michigan State University Horse Farm located at 3327 Collins Rd., Lansing, MI 48910. Join us for a day of horse educational fun where families can take a horse drawn wagon ride, paint a live pony, participate in a scavenger hunt, create horsey crafts and watch live demonstrations. Kids can also participate in their own stick-horse race. The cost is $5 per person. The event is hosted by the Michigan State University Friends of Horse Teaching and Research Center and all proceeds support the Michigan State University Student Equine Clubs.

MSU Horse Management Education Programs

Those with a love of horses can plan their college education based on horse-related goals at Michigan State University.  They offer an Animal Science Bachelor’s Degree and two-year Horse Management Program, in addition to online horse management courses. Students will round out their education at MSU’s Horse Teaching and Research Center, which is a 100-acre state of the art classroom. They will have an opportunity to work with MSU’s purebred Arabian horses from their premier breeding program to build a foundation of skills and become competitive in all aspects of the horse industry. Student can enrich their collegiate experience through extracurricular activities with MSU’s championship Horse Judging and Equestrian Teams, Horsemen’s Association, Rodeo Club, Dressage Club, Driving Club, Polo Club, research projects and international studies program. The Friends of the HTRC is a volunteer organization with the goal of supporting the equine programs at MSU through educational programs for the public, equine clinics and workshops, promotion of HTRC events, students and programs, an annual Horse Farm Picnic, and assisting with funding for MSU equine clubs and judging team.
