Eaton Good Food Council to host 2014 Eaton Good Food Fair

The Eaton Good Food Council invites food producers, consumers and businesses to this February 22 event at the Eaton County RESA (formerly the ISD).

One of several food system conferences occurring throughout the state will be taking place on February 22 in Charlotte. The Eaton Good Food Council will be hosting the 2014 Eaton Good Food Fair at the Eaton County RESA (formerly the ISD) on 1790 Packard Hwy in Charlotte, Mich. The day will start at 8 a.m. with a light breakfast. Presentations and exhibits will conclude at noon.

This free event has four goals:

  1. Bring together/identify food stakeholders in Eaton County
  2. Increase awareness and support for local food procurement/business
  3. Increase the number of vendors selling at Eaton County Farmers Markets
  4. Feature and build our county’s identity as a good food county

Exhibits will include highlights from Tirrell Farmstead Specialties, Eaton County Farm Bureau, Incu-Bake (incubator kitchen), MSU Product Center, Eaton Conservation District, Eaton County Farmers Markets, Al!ve, Eaton County Department of Human Services, Michigan Farmers Market Association, Eaton County United Way, Barry-Eaton District Health Department and Olivet’s Farm to School program to name a few.

Two main stage presentations will be provided to showcase Farmers Markets and introduce attendees to Food Hubs. These will be held at 10 and at 11 a.m. respectively.

The fair is being coordinated by Michigan State University Extension, Barry-Eaton District Health Department, Eaton County United Way, Michigan Food Policy Council and Eaton County.
