Do something fun this winter and attend the Wild Winter Farm Camp

MSU Tollgate’s Wild Winter Farm Camp, held Feb. 15-16, 2016, helps beat the winter blues.

As the weather finally changes and winter hits, it’s common for kids to get restless. Michigan State University’s Tollgate Farm and Education Center is excited to announce an opportunity that will help shake off the weather woes. Join us Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 15-16, 2016, from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. for an exciting two days exploring farm life from a new perspective. Every wonder how animals stay warm? Do ducks get chilly after swimming in their pond? This is your chance to check out the farm up close and personal.

Activities will be hands-on and for some, a chance to try something new. Start your day by caring for the animals and collecting freshly laid chicken eggs during animal chores. In Garden Kitchen, prepare a tasty snack from scratch using Michigan products. Check out how wool keeps the sheep warm by exploring the science of fiber. Then bundle up and head back outdoors for a snowshoe trek in the Tollgate woods. All of this fun and that’s just the first day!

Each day offers a new set of activities based on the unique theme. You can choose to attend just one day or both. The group sizes are small and space is limited, so sign up quickly by contacting 248-347-0269 ext. 238 or .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). Aftercare is available from 4-6 p.m. Try something new and exciting this winter break and spend it at Tollgate. For more information, visit the Tollgate Farm and Education Center website.
