Being creative when creating a new business
Attend the action-packed session Turning Ideas into Products at 4-H Exploration Days, June 20 – 22, 2018.
Entrepreneurs use their imagination every day to come up with ideas for new products or to improve existing products. Youth can learn more about entrepreneurship by taking the class Turning Ideas into Products at 4-H Exploration Days, Wednesday, June 20 – Friday, June 22, 2018. In this session, youth will play the role of an entrepreneur, create a new product using innovative thinking, develop a prototype, create a marketing campaign and promote their business idea in a product pitch competition
4-H entrepreneurship programs can help youth take an existing project to new levels or assist in bringing a great idea to life while making a profit. Youth attending this class will meet with an instructor for 10 hours over the three-day event, ending with a new “product” they developed and a chance to convince the audience to purchase it. Youth will also tour a local incubator site to explore how to create products from your ideas and launch a business.
4-H Exploration Days is a wonderful three-day, pre-college program available for youth ages 11 – 19 years old. Youth attending can choose from over 200 different sessions that are held on and off the campus of Michigan State University. Youth will get a taste of college life by living in a Michigan State University dorm and eating in the cafeteria just like college students.
At 4-H Exploration Days, youth can choose between one or two sessions depending on what they would like to learn more about. If the project is not offered in their own counties, this is a good way to attend and get information and share back with others in their county. There is also time to swim, skate, bowl or play basketball with new found friends.
With a little business knowledge, creativity, hard work, determination and some creative thinking, youth entrepreneurs can be on their way to changing the future with the next new idea.
Michigan State University Extension and Michigan 4-H Youth Development help to prepare young people for successful futures.
