2016 Breakfast on the Farm hosts are ready for company

This summer, Breakfast on the Farm features two farm families committed to showing the public where their food comes from. Don’t miss the opportunity to visit Zwerk and Sons Farms in Tuscola County and Hartland Farms in Lenawee County.

Michigan State University Extension’s Breakfast on the Farm (BOTF) program will feature two Michigan family farms this year. On Saturday, August 13, Zwerk and Sons Farms in Vassar will open its doors to visitors. On Saturday, August 27, the Hart family will be welcoming visitors to their dairy farm in Clayton.

Showing the public how food is grown and raised is a central theme of Breakfast on the Farm. Each host family has created a video to share this message and welcome the public to their farms. See the farms and meet the gracious families who are soon to open their doors:

Tuscola County- Zwerk & Sons Farms, Vassar, Mich.

Lenawee County- Hartland Farms, Clayton, Mich.

The events, which include a breakfast and self-guided tours of the farms, run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with breakfast served until noon. The breakfast and tour are free, however tickets are required. To find a ticket location near you, visit our BOTF website.

Breakfast on the Farm events are made possible through the generous support of the host families, local businesses and farms, volunteers and the program’s 2016 statewide sponsors including: Corn Marketing Program of Michigan, United Dairy Industry of Michigan, Michigan Wheat Program, Michigan Farm Bureau, Michigan Farm Bureau Insurance, Michigan Foundation for Agriculture, GreenStone Farm Credit Services, Dairyland Seed, Michigan Milk Producers Association, Michigan Soybean Promotion Committee, Zoetis and Crystal Flash.
