2013 Michigan 4-H Volunteer Forum

The Michigan 4-H Volunteer Forum is for all volunteers. It is an excellent learning opportunity for volunteers from other organizations, or for people thinking about volunteering.

Volunteers are the heart of Michigan 4-H; every 4-H program is touched by volunteers.  There is a place in every county for caring adults to impact the lives of young people through 4-H programs. According to Michigan State University Extension, some volunteers spend countless hours teaching and mentoring youth while others volunteer once a year at an annual event, but everyone has a role and each is an important one.

The Michigan 4-H Volunteer Forum is for all volunteers, whatever their role is.  It is also an excellent learning opportunity for volunteers from other organizations, or for people thinking about volunteering to learn more about volunteer roles and how to make the most of any volunteer opportunity.

The 2013 Michigan 4-H Volunteer Forum will be held November 9, 2013 on the campus of Michigan State University.  Amanda Eicher from Sturgis, Mich. will start the day with the keynote address. Eicher will inspire and motivate participants to make a difference in their communities. The forum will offer many hands-on workshops taught by volunteers and MSU Extension professionals.  This is a fantastic opportunity to network with other volunteers from across the state, gain knowledge, acquire new resources and have fun.

Some of this year’s workshops include Using Social Media, Animal Science Activities, Experiential Learning, Environmental Education, Activities for Teens, Preparing a Global Workforce, Managing Stress and Anger, as well as many project specific topics such as dogs, goats, gardening, sewing, shooting sports and more.
