Get information for controlling old and new field crop pests at MSU Extension program
EAST LANSING, Mich. – Field crop producers can hone their pest management skills for the 2012 growing season by attending the Michigan State University Extension (MSUE) Field Crop Pest Management Winter Program series.
The program will be offered at four Michigan sites during January and February. It designed to help farmers learn about controlling traditional and new pests in Michigan, highlighting changes in MSUE recommendations in field crop weed, insect and disease control and soil fertility recommendations for the 2012 growing season.
This year’s program will also feature new research information on how to manage two newer pest management challenges in Michigan – glyphosate-resistant Palmer Amaranth and Sudden Death Syndrome.
Speakers include MSU Extension specialists Christy Sprague, Chris DiFonzo, Kurt Steinke, Martin Chilvers and George Bird, and MSUE educators Martin Nagelkirk and Mike Staton.
The programs run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., on the following dates at the noted locations:

The registration fee is $40 per person. Restricted use pesticide applicator and certified crop advisor credits will be available.
