I received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Michigan State University and a Master of Arts in Counseling Education/Counseling Psychololgy from Western Michigan University with a specialization in K-12 counseling and Holistic Health focus.
In 1999 I began my work with MSU Extension as a Children, Youth and Family Agent in Benzie County. In this role, I was responsible for creating and implementing out of school time programming for “at risk” youth. Over the next 12 years, my job would grow and evolve to include supervising a sizeable staff of AmeriCorps VISTA volunteers throughout the region, the 4-H program in Benzie County, the Family and Nutrition Program in Benzie and Manistee counties as well as the Breast Feeding Initiative in Manistee and Mason counties. During this time I also served on numerous community boards, facilitated strategic planning sessions for local partners, and established strong collaborative relationships throughout several counties.
In 2011, I was named the Director of the Upward Bound Program at Northwestern Michigan College where our department provided college prepratory programming for low income, first generation students in the region.
Before returning to MSU Extension in 2016, I served as the Benzie County Human Services Collabortive Coordinator and provided parent advocacy prgramming for Benzie and Manistee counties.
For just over a year, I had the pleasure of supervising the SNAP-Ed Nutrition and Physical Activity programs and conducting Social Emotional Programming in District 03. On July 1, 2017 my role transitioned into full-time Social Emotional programming in Districts 03 and 14.
I provide a variety of classes including Stress Less with Mindfulness and Relax: Alternatives to Anger for Alpena, Antrim, Benzie, Charlevoix, Cheboygan, Emmet, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, Leelanau, Manistee, Montmorency, and Presque Isle counties. I also serve as the Social Emotional Workteam Mindfulness Committee Co-Chair.
