Senior Extension Educator Brenda Long served as the Family and Consumer Sciences Educator in Ionia County from 2002 until the MSU Extension restructuring in 2010, when Long’s responsibilities expanded to seven mid-Michigan counties. Long has been responsible for planning, promoting, conducting and evaluating education in nutrition and health, chronic disease prevention and management, food safety and preservation. She is now focused on financial capacity, home buyer, foreclosure prevention and health insurance education. As current co-chair of the Financial and Homeownership workteam, Long has been instrumental in developing and/or training for regional and statewide programs that enhance county programs. She currently supervises three Program Instructors in three districts. She has also been the Principal Investigator for several federal grants.
