Timber and Taxes Workshop

MSU Extension-Oakland County is hosting an educational workshop for landowners, forestry and tax professionals. It is intended as an introduction to the following topics:
- State and Federal Tax Ramifications of Income from Timber Sales
- Capital Gains treatment of the purchase and sale of timber
- Basics of timber sales
- Qualified Forest Property Act and Commercial Forest Act Basics
The workshop will take place on Monday, March 31, 2014, from 6:00 – 9:00 pm at the Oakland County Executive Office Building Conference Center in Waterford. This workshop will be taught by Michigan State University Department of Forestry’s Dr. Karen Potter-Witter who has over 30 years of experience in the area of forest economics. The cost is $20 per family if pre-registered or $25 per family at the door.
