THROUGH THE EYES OF OUR YOUTH: THE MARQUETTE PHOTOVOICE PROJECT EXHIBIT will be on display at the City of Marquette Arts and Culture Center, located in the basement of the Peter White Public Library from Nov. 27 - Dec. 5, 2017.
The exhibit will feature a selection of photographs taken by a group of teens from Marquette and Alger County who have participated in The Art of Teen Leadership: Marquette Photovoice Project. The teen participants were asked to use photography to share their perspective on these two questions:
- What are the things that you really like about your community?
- What are things that you think could be better in your community?
On artists reception will be held to open the exhibition on November 27 from 6:00 - 7:00 pm. At the reception the youth photographers will speak about their experience with the project and share their photos with the community. The reception is open to the public and all community members, leaders and others are welcome to meet these young leaders, see their incredible work, and learn what these youth see as our community’s strengths and opportunities for change.
The Art of Teen Leadership: Marquette Photovoice Project is the result of a collaboration between the Marquette County MSU Extension office, Michigan 4-H, local photographer Lali Khalid, and the City of Marquette Arts and Culture Center. The project was supported by Promising Futures Partnership and the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs.
