Teen Cuisine is a hands-on cooking program created by the Virginia Family Nutrition Program that teaches students in grades 8-12 important life skills for eating smart, which will stay with them as they grow into adults. Lessons cover how to choose healthy foods and prevent food borne illness. With a cooking demonstration in each lesson, students learn by doing. Topics includes Eat Smart, You Are What You Eat, Power up with Protein, Fight the Fat, Have A Plan and A Healthy And Happy Teen. This program consists of six lessons, lasting approximately 1 1/2 hour each. Engaging nutrition activities and discussions. Providing a recipe book for use at home.
Class series are taught throughout the community, including but not limited to community centers, churches, schools and local MSU Extension offices. Group series are available if there are six to 15 people.
