Tour stops will be in Michigan’s “Tip of the Thumb” - Huron County
Strieter Hay Farms, Bay Port, MI This innovative farm focuses on dry hay, baleage, and straw. They feature the use of a Steffen Hay Sizer system for uniform bale sizing of their forages.
Grekowicz Farms, Inc., Harbor Beach, MI This independent cash crop operation does custom forage harvesting of corn silage and haylage for a large dairy operation. Also, come and see an example of their waste water irrigation system.
Russell Hay Farms, Deckerville, MI This forage operation specializes in a high quality alfalfa/timothy mix for horses. The tour stop will also include a look at an alfalfa demonstration plot of the newest alfalfa varieties available for today’s alfalfa producers.
This program is designed to help producers learn about new and innovative ideas, approaches, and solutions to challenges in the Great Lakes Regions’ forage based agriculture systems.
