It is an annual challenge to manage pests effectively while protecting pollinators. Michigan State University Extension, in coordination with the Michigan Pollinator Initiative (MPI), will be holding an educational session on the pollinator issues in commercial fruit. MPI scientist, Dr. Meghan Milbrath, and others will be speaking on the importance of pollinators, which farm inputs endanger pollinators, how those inputs reach and injure pollinators, and some best management practices that individual producers can employ to reduce the risk. The program will answer the question: “Can fungicides also harm honeybees? ” with an update on the latest research on the subject.
All attendees are welcome to join us for dinner afterwards. The program begins at 3 p.m. at the Southwest Michigan Research and Extension Center, 1791 Hillandale Rd., Benton Harbor, MI 49022. Registration is $15 if received by April 20, or $20 at the door.
