MSU Extension's Agriculture and Agri-business Institute is offering a soil fumigation workshop at its grain storage and fumigation program which will be held on December 12, 3013 at the MSU Livestock Pavilion. The breakout session will cover recent changes in the soil fumigation procedures that were added to the fumigant labels during EPA's review of the materials. The session will cover application methods used to apply soil fumigants, provide an overview of what crops and pests soil fumigants are used for nationally and in Michigan and the new required procedures and setback distances for safe use of these materials. Participants at this program will earn enough fumigation standard credits to be able to re-certify their RUP fumigation credential for 3 years without re-taking the test. The program offers 4 recertification credits for the fumigation standard only. The program will run in conjunction with the grain storage and fumigation workshop being offered at the same time and location. The soils portion of the program will run from 9:00 am through lunch. The registration cost for the program is $65 per person and includes lunch and handouts.
