Open to anyone interested in learning more about earth-friendly techniques to improve your vegetable garden. We will present the soil test results for the Iron County Green Thumb Community Garden and go over what, if anything, needs to be done to amend the soil. Practices such as use of organic mulches, compost, and cover crops will be discussed. On hand will be, Liz Slajus, local Master Gardener trainee, who will talk about the success of her school daycare garden project and the upcoming Master Gardener class; and Deb Divoky, 4-H program coordinator, if anyone would like to become a part of the community garden planning committee. This program is free and refreshments will be served. We will travel to the community garden for the second half of the program for a tour and demonstration (weather permitting).
