Small Steps Can Prevent Diabetes

Becoming more active and losing a moderate amount of weight can help you change your family history. Through the National Diabetes Prevention Program workshop you’ll learn to jump start your routine, find your healthy weight, move your muscles, control your portions, talk back to negative thoughts, get support, and stay motivated!
The workshop is specifically designed for people who have been told they’re at risk of developing diabetes. It is not for those who already have diabetes. More than half of the past participants in the National Diabetes Prevention Program were successful in achieving normal blood sugar levels and losing five to seven percent of their body weight, which eliminated their risk of developing diabetes. You too can achieve this level of success.
During 2013, the cost of the workshop is $50, which is a savings of $175. The program is supported financially by Michigan State University Extension. Scholarships are available upon request.
