What are the 40 Developmental Assets? How about the 5 C’s of Youth Development? In this interactive session, participants will learn about several youth development theories and explore ways that youth development professionals, teachers, parents and volunteers can assist youth in developing their full potential. In the afternoon, participants will shift their focus to communication skills. As part of our daily lives, we often misconstrue communication as a natural process that just happens. Misunderstandings and miscommunication can cause a lot of unnecessary frustration whether with co-workers, with volunteers, or with young people. Participants will experience interactive activities that you can take back with you to explore concepts like positive-constructive reinforcement, two-way communication, and reflective listening.
Costs: (includes lunch and snacks)
