Any youth, ages 9-19, and their parents are invited to attend this Science Blast that will focus on the technology of GPS & GIS and map making. Youth will work with other youth to create a community park that will serve the needs of their community. Youth will determine the different parts that are necessary to create their map of the community park. They will also problem solve together to determine which features of the park need to be determined before other features are designed and/or implemented. They will present their ideas to other groups and learn from each other. If time allows, participants will also work together to solve a community trash problem and explore how a mapping process can help them with this dilemma.
