How individuals handle their anger and stress effects a radius of people around them. Through presentations, group discussion and skill-building activities, participants will learn what anger is, what triggers anger, calming down and de-stressing methods, the principles of problem solving, effective communication skills and forgiving and letting go of the past. This multi-session program can be provided in a variety of community educational settings.

The goal of Alternatives to Angers is to help young people, parents and caregivers foster health relationships so they can live, learn and grow in a safe, affirming and fair environment free from violence, abuse, bullying and harassment. Youth, parents and caregivers will learn to better manage their anger and stress at home and in the workplace. Participants will: Understand child and human development and how to RECOGNIZE when people are angry, what triggers that anger and how to cope. Learn to EMPATHIZE with another’s person point of view. Learn to be a better LISTENER. Learn ACCEPTANCE to deal with challenging behaviors by developing problem-solving skills. Learn to X-OUT the past and focus on the present.

Michigan State University Extension staff/authors will facilitate the training.
