Powerful Tools for Caregivers

This program will help you take care of yourself while caring for a relative or friends.  You will benefit from the class whether you are helping a parent, spouse, friend or someone who lives at home, in a nursing homes, or across the country.  Please not that this class will not focus on specific diseases or hands-on care giving for the care receiver.

 The course surrounds YOU the caregiver including…

  • Ways to help you reduce stress
  • Solutions to communicate effectively with other family members, your doctor, paid help…
  • Sign and steps towards your better self-care
  • Reducing guilt, anger, and depression
  • Helpful ways you can relax
  • Making tough decisions
  • Setting goals and problem-solving

 The class covers the following topics:

  • Hiring in-home help
  • Understanding depression
  • Helping memory-impaired elders
  • Making decisions about driving
  • Making legal and financial decisions
  • Making decisions about care facility placement
  • Communicating with other family members
  • Planning, creating and using agendas for casual family meetings

 Six Thursday Sessions -  Sept. 13, 20, 27 & Oct. 4, 11, 18

 This workshop is free but registration is required.
