Powerful Tools for Caregivers

This program will help you take care of yourself while caring for a relative or friend. You will benefit from the class whether you are helping a parent, spouse, friend or someone who lives at home, in a nursing home or across the country. Please note that this class will not focus on specific diseases or hands-on caregiving for the care receiver.
The course provides caregivers caregivers ways to help you reduce stress, solutions to communicate effectively with other family members, doctors and paid help, reducing guilt, anger and depression, helpful ways you can relax and much more.
The class covers the following topics:
- Hiring in-home help
- Understanding depression
- Helping memory-impaired elders
- Making legal and financial decisions
- Making decisions about care facility placement
- Communicating with other family members
- Planning, creating and using agendas for casual family meetings
Six Fridays: June 15, 22, 29, July 6, 13, 20 - free of charge
