Spend the day learning what the 40 Developmental Assets are and how to build communciation skills when working with youth. In this session, participants will learn about the Search Institute’s 40 Developmental Asset framework and explore ways that youth development professionals, teachers, parents and volunteers can assist youth in developing these assets. As part of our daily lives, we often misconstrue communication as a natural process that just happens. Misunderstandings and miscommunication can cause a lot of unnecessary frustration whether with co-workers, volunteers, or young people. These sessions use interactive activities that you can take back with you to explore things like positive-constructive reinforcement, two-way communication, and reflective listening.
Registration will start at 9:30 a.m. Lunch will be provided.
