Pork Production in the Upper Peninsula

This workshop will focus on practical management practices for raising pigs in the UP. In order to provide the most up to date information it will be a combination of webinar presentations from MSU’s campus and live presenters.

MSU Extension Pork Specialist in nutrition and management Dr. Dale Rozeboom will join the workshop via webinar to discuss using alternative feeds that may be more readily available in the UP to reduce feed costs then using those feeds to develop balanced diets.

Also presenting via webinar, Dr. Ron Bates, MSU Extension Pork Specialist in swine genetics will discuss selecting sows and boars that make sense for UP producers and the local markets available to them.

MSU Extension Educator Jerry May will be attending the workshop in person to help facilitate the webinars and discuss practical management practices for small swine herds.
