There is a portion of the 2014 Farm Bill that addresses disaster insurance for crops that are not insurable under standard crop insurance. That program is called the Noninsured Assistance Program or NAP. There have been some notable changes to NAP and we are going to hold several educational workshops. The dates and info are as follows:
The Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program provides financial assistance to producers of non-insurable crops to protect against natural disasters that result in lower yields, crop losses, or prevented planting. As part of the reauthorization of the NAP program in the 2014 Farm Bill, there were important changes made that producers should be aware of. To provide commercial producers with more information about this important program, a series of educational workshops have been planned. Speakers will be from the Farm Service Agency and Michigan State University Extension.
