Congratulations on your election to a very important position in county government. We wish you the best as you serve in this valuable and influential role.
To help you achieve success we invite you to attend one of the six New County Commissioner Workshops offered around the state. The workshop is designed to help introduce you to the responsibilities of this new role and provide you with a solid framework from which to begin your newly elected position.
This program is hosted by Michigan State University Extension and Michigan Association of Counties for new and returning commissioners, administrators and county officials.
Participants in the 2014 New County Commissioner Workshops will:
• Explore the complexity of governance in today’s world.
• Learn more about their roles and responsibilities.
• Gain an initial understanding of county finance.
• Learn the questions to ask when making decisions on policy issues.
• Network with other commissioners.
We encourage your participation in one of the workshops and look forward to meeting you.
