Michigan's Cottage Food law allows entrepreneurs the opportunity to prepare and sell certain homemade foods made in home kitchens. Cottage foods are basically non-hazardous foods. They can be safely kept at room temperature and do not require refrigeration. Examples include: jams, jellies, breads and similar baked goods, cookies, cakes, fruit pies, vinegars and others. This workshop will give you information on how to safely make, label and sell cottage foods. MSU Product Center Innovation Counselor Wendy Wieland, and Michelle Jarvie, MSUE Food Safety Educator, will present the business and food safety aspects of preparing and selling cottage foods at farmers’ market or direct to your customers.
Wednesday, May 28 6 - 9 p.m. Room 536, Student Community Resource Center NCMC, Petoskey Campus, 1515 Howard St., Petoskey, 49770
