Supplemental and Sole-Source Plant Lighting Workshop
Three types of lighting are utilized in controlled-environment production of horticultural crops:
- photoperiodic lighting to regulate flowering
- supplemental lighting to increase plant growth in the greenhouse
- sole-source lighting to produce uniform young plants indoors
Dr. Runkle will discuss these three lighting techniques and how new LEDs compare with conventional lamps such as incandescent, CFL, and high-pressure sodium. Results from the latest lighting research performed at MSU will be shared, including the pros and cons of producing seedlings indoors.
Please let us know if you will be attending by Feb. 9, 2016. Contact Thomas Dudek at email@example.com or 616-994-4542, so I can have the correct amount of hand-outs. There is no charge for this workshop.
