A greenhouse lighting seminar, offered by Dr. Erik Runkle, will be on September 19th beginning at 1 p.m. This free two-hour workshop will present the latest research-based information generated at MSU on how to use lighting in the production of floriculture crops. Dr. Runkle will discuss different ways to create long days to accelerate flowering of spring crops. He will also discuss principles and practices to increase the daily light integral (DLI) to improve root and shoot growth. Different lighting technologies will be presented, with an emphasis on the challenges, opportunities, and experiences of using light-emitting diodes (LEDs) in crop production. Following the talk, there will be time for questions and answers. The seminar will be hosted at the Tollgate Conference Center in Novi, MI. Drinks will be provided.
