Understanding a few basic principles of parliamentary procedure can improve meeting productivity. When members are aware of the hierarchy of rules they are supposed to follow, they can be more effective leaders. When leaders follow the rules the public will too. This workshop will discuss basic meeting rules, rules for the public in open meetings, how to make motions and deliberate efficiently in small board meetings. Discussion will also include highlighting the differences between administrative boards such as planning commissions and zoning boards of appeals and other legislative or voluntary boards.
